Even as a viewer it's easy to fall in love with Johansson's voice and her joyful personality. They come off as too weird or too alienating for many ("Being John Malkovich" anyone?). I really liked the quote Phoenix's character has early in the film about being worried he will never feel a new emotion again.This felt very real, I don't know how else to describe it. But the power of science fiction does not consist in what it says about the future; its power derives from its ability to tell stories about our present. There's really nothing quite like this film out there and I couldn't be happier that I took the time to watch this. Fair warning though: "Her" is a bit unsettling and it will leave people extremely weirded out, but "Her" is downright arresting. Like Before Midnight, it exposes the ugly side of romance and the fragility of the human heart. (Even just one.) Report. when you’re happy this thing can really put you down.
